Salima is the closest point on Lake Malawi to Lilongwe, which makes Senga Bay the capital’s weekend coast. The drive is around 100 kilometres and takes about an hour and a half on a decent road.

Most of our Salima bookings are straightforward: a Friday transfer out from Lilongwe or Kamuzu International Airport, and a Sunday return. Conference organisers also use the lakeshore hotels here for off-site retreats, which we cover as multi-vehicle group movements.

Salima town itself sits a few kilometres inland from the water, so we always confirm the exact lodge or resort at booking. Senga Bay, Livingstonia Beach and the properties spread along the shore are each a slightly different final approach.
